After Van Halen’s debut album release in 1978, he was named as “Best New Guitarist of The Year” by Guitar Player Magazine. In the early 1970’s, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and his brother Alex, a drummer, formed the group “Mammoth” with vocalist David Lee Roth and bass player Michael Anthony. They changed their name to Van Halen in ’78. Roth was fired in 1986 and replaced by Sammy Hagar, who was, in turn, replaced by Gary Cherone in ’96.
1984 was the last Van Halen studio album until A Different Kind of Truth (2012) to feature lead singer David Lee Roth, who left the band in 1985 following creative differences. This is the final full-length album to feature all four original members (Van Halen brothers, Roth, and Michael Anthony), although they reunited briefly in 2000 to start work on what would much later become 2012’s A Different Kind of Truth. Roth returned in 2007, but Eddie’s son Wolfgang replaced Anthony in 2006. 1984 and Van Halen’s debut are Van Halen’s bestselling albums, each having sold more than 10 million copies.
Presented is a 1984 Van Halen record album autographed by two of it’s leaders Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth. Both David and Eddie brilliantly signed the cover of the “1984” album in black felt tip (“9-10”). Note, the jacket features some aging/storage wear (mostly around edges). The original record is also included.
