Roberto Clemente was an All-Star for 13 seasons, selected to 15 All-Star Games. He was the National League (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1966, the NL batting leader in 1961, 1964, 1965, and 1967, and a Gold Glove Award winner for 12 consecutive seasons from 1961 through 1972. He was the embodiment of unselfishness. The man who died prematurely during a relief mission to his native country, Clemente is still revered in his homeland.
Presented is a piece of parchment signed by Roberto Clemente that was preserved in a wooden plaque. The cut was autographed by Clemente in black felt tip (“9”) with the inscription, “Best Wishes”. The cut (2.25″ x 3.25″) was laminated for preservation and placed within the plaque display (18.25″ x 23″). It is showcased with a stat sheet and an artist (John Wolf) portrait of Clemente as well as numbered 21/1000 in the series.
