The Exorcist earned ten Academy Award nominations, and was the first horror film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. It has been regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time, and is one of the highest-grossing films in history, grossing over $441 million worldwide after various re-releases.
This prop crucifix was used in some of the most iconic and controversial scenes of the 1973 American supernatural horror film. It was used by actress Linda Blair who portrayed “Regan MacNeil”, the 12-year-old girl who becomes possessed after playing with a Ouija board. The cross was used by Blair in a bedroom scene, and can also be seen being placed on the bedside table by the Priest in the exorcism scene.
This cross was acquired from a 40 year production asset procurement manager, properties manager and archivist, who was employed by Universal, MGM and Warner Bros. during his tenure. The cross was acquired after the production ended, and will be accompanied by a letter of provenance. A screenshot photo of this scene is available upon request.
The cross is signed by Linda Blair with her signature on the front and “Regan” on the back, and will come with a letter of authenticity from PSA DNA which authenticates the signature. The lot will also include a post card signed by Blair which has also been authenticated by PSA DNA and will come with a certificate of authenticity, a reference photo from the film and two photos of Blair with the cross.
Authentication: Provenance Letter (for film use), PSA/DNA Letter (for autograph).
